Foreword

EXPLANATION OF MEETING FORMAT

Check-in:  Each person shares “How am I feeling as we begin this meeting”  (2-3 minutes each)

Theme:  The theme of the meeting is given for each exercise. The facilitator invites the group to read it aloud.

Reflection:  The facilitator reads the Reflection. This is followed by a short period of silence for personal reflection.  (2-3 minutes)

Sharing:  The facilitator invites the members to begin sharing the fruit of their prayer and reflection. The questions that are offered may be used if they are helpful.  After the sharings are finished, members may add anything else they wish around the reflection or about anything that may be of importance.

(The Theme, Reflection, and Sharing are the main parts of the meeting)

Short Break (optional)

Open conversation and questions  about matters of interest and concern.

Preview the topic to be prayed over before the next meeting.

Business:  Where the next meeting will be held, who will facilitate, who will lead the prayer, and other matters of community interest.

Review of meeting: Each person shares briefly “How I was moved during the meeting. Where I felt positive energy. Where I felt discomfort.” This is the time to address honestly how one felt about the meeting.

ON THE USE OF THIS BOOKLET

Use of Scripture for personal prayer and meetings

In each exercise, only one Scripture passage is given. It is included to help energize your prayer. If you so desire, you may look for other passages which speak to the theme during your personal prayer time. Members could share these passages with others during their Check-in time.

Questions presented for Sharings

Questions are offered at the end of each Theme for the Sharing part of each meeting.

The idea behind this is to assist the members to focus on their personal experience. If the questions are not helpful, speak to what is.

Read through this booklet before beginning

It greatly helps to familiarize yourself with the spirit and movement of this booklet before beginning. Everyone is encouraged to read through it first, either during one’s own personal time or during a meeting.
