1. Ư nghĩa của sứ mệnh
1.1. Sứ mệnh của Chúa Giê-su
76. Trong bốn sách
Tin Mừng, nhất là sách Tin Mừng Gio-an, Chúa Giê-su được tŕnh
bày như Đấng được Chúa Cha sai đến. Được sai đi, ư niệm này nói
lên chính xác ư nghĩa cuộc sống và sự hiện diện của Chúa Giê-su
giữa chúng ta, đến nỗi chúng
ta chỉ có thể hiểu được h́nh ảnh của Ngài qua sứ mệnh Chúa Cha
đă trao phó cho Ngài. Mặt khác, sứ mệnh không phải là một điều
ǵ của riêng Chúa Giê-su, nhưng là một hồng ân Ngài lănh nhận từ
nơi Chúa Cha (58).
77. Chúa Giê-su thi
hành sứ mệnh này trong mối hiệp thông hoàn toàn với Chúa Cha
(59). Do đó, bản chất sâu xa nhất của Chúa Giê-su chính là được
làm Con. Sự sống của Ngài là sự sống của Chúa Cha, sự sống mà
Chúa Cha đă ban cho Ngài (60). Đó cũng là sự sống Ngài sẽ ban
cho nhân loại, và như vậy những ai tin sẽ là những người sống
bằng sự sống của Chúa Con (61).
78. Sứ mệnh của Đức
Giê-su, Chúa Con, là sứ mệnh Chúa Cha đă trao phó. Chúa Giê-su
biết rơ Ngài không phải là chủ nhân của sứ mêänh này; Ngài không
đến trần gian tự ư ḿnh, nhưng đến để thi hành sứ mệnh, bởi v́
Chúa Cha và Ngài là một và sống trong sự hiệp thông hoàn toàn
với Thánh Thần (tức là Thiên Chúa Ba Ngôi, Thiên Chúa thông
hiệp) (62).
79. Đối tượng của
sứ mệnh này, đó là tất cả loài người được Chúa Cha yêu mến sẽ
được kết hiệp với Thiên Chúa Ba Ngôi: cho nên ngay từ đời này
chúng ta đă được kêu gọi hăy sống trong sự sung măn của Thiên
Chúa (63). Chúa Giê-su vừa là sứ giả, vừa là sứ điệp (64).
1.2. Sứ mệnh của Giáo Hội
80. Giáo Hội là
cộng đoàn gồm tất cả những người tin kính và mong đợi Chúa
Ki-tô, Đấng ban ơn cứu độ, nguyên lư của sự hiệp nhất và ḥa
b́nh; Thiên Chúa thiết lập họ thành Giáo Hội, để Giáo Hội trở
nên bí tích hữu h́nh của sự hiệp nhất cứu độ ấy cho toàn thể và
cho mỗi người (65). Vậy Giáo Hội là một bí tích của ơn cứu độ
trong lịch sử nhân loại chúng ta (66).

B. AVAILABILITY FOR MISSION
1. The meaning of mission
1.1. The mission of Jesus

76. In the Gospels, especially in that of John, Jesus is
presented as the One sent by the Father. Being sent is precisely
what gives sense to His life and His presence among us, so that
we can't understand the person of Jesus except through this
mission that the Father has entrusted to Him. On the other hand,
mission is not something belonging to Jesus; it is a gift he has
received from the Father. (58)
77. Jesus lives this mission in total communion with the
Father. (59) For this reason, the most intimate reality of Jesus is
being Son. His life is the Father's, given to Him by the
Father.(60) It is a life He will give to humankind, thus believers
will be those who live with the Son's life.

78. The mission of Jesus the Son is that which the Father has
entrusted to Him. Jesus knows that He is not the proprietor of
this mission: He has not come into this world "on His own" but
in order to carry out His mission, because the Father and He are
one, and live in full communion with the Spirit (God is Trinity
and is Communion). (62)
79. The precise object of this mission will be that all men and
women, beloved of the Father, become one with the Triune God:
even now we are called to live in the fullness of God Himself.

Jesus is the messenger and, at the same time, the message.

1.2. The mission of the Church
80. The Church is "the congregation of all those who in faith
look upon Jesus as the author of salvation and the source of
unity and peace"; "founded and built by God to be a visible
sacrament of this saving unity". (65) The Church is the sacrament
of salvation in the concrete history of our world.

(57) The starting point of mission is the relationship with Jesus.
Jesus is present, not only in our own hearts, but also in His
Body, of which our local CLC group is a cell; and furthermore,
He is present in those to whom we are sent - family, friends,
work-place, the wider community, especially those in need.
Consequently, mission comes alive and energises us when this
three-fold presence of Jesus resonates and interacts - Jesus
present in our heart; Jesus present in our CLC group; Jesus
present in those to whom we are sent.
(58) "I have come from heaven not to do my own will but to do the
will of him who sent me" (Jn 6:38: Jn 4:34; 5:30; 9:4-5; 14:24).
